WMM: Film Central #12 – Replacing Yekra for Online Distribution (feat. Brad Brown)

As a proactive follow up to last week’s podcast about Youtube for filmmakers with Valentina Vee, this week’s Film Central is all about what filmmakers should be doing with their content with Intelivideo’s CEO Brad Brown.  Brad and his team reached out to us in the wake of the stunning news that Online Video Platform Yekra was closing its doors largely without notice, and creating a gaping hole in the online distribution landscape for content creators… even worse, this came just months after an entire Film Central podcast was dedicated to talking with Yekra CEO Lee Waterworth about how Yekra and its groundbreaking affiliate model was a game changer for content creators looking to distribute their own work.  As with a lot of things in life, when one door closes, another opens, and Sam was sort of amazed to discover how cool Intelivideo’s platform was, and that it might be a more viable alternative to traditional distribution than Yekra ever was.  Sam and Brad also talk about a whole bunch of other stuff as well, especially about what it’s like to go build a business around a product that you couldn’t find yourself, and about why content creators really need viable alternative to traditional film distribution.  If you’re interested in controlling your career and your content as a filmmakers, this is probably the most useful podcast we’ve ever done.
